Domestic
Moves
Moving
house is recognised to be potentially one of the more
stressful events in the life of a household. It is QUICKSILVER's
mission to ensure that this is not the case. Your move
may be regional, national or international, small or large.
From Newcastle, Tyne & Wear to Newcastle, New South Wales,
QUICKSILVER
can help you make that move.
After
your initial contact with QUICKSILVER,
you will meet one of our estimators who will offer practical
guidance and advice as well as providing you with a
free written quotation, without obligation. If you are
let down by another contractor or have an urgent removal
or storage requirement, we can usually provide a service
at a few hours notice.
We
are able to offer secure containerised storage for any
period in our new purpose-built warehouse facility.

|
 |
ACCESS
& PARKING
Apart from
the details of items to be moved, of prime concern to removal
staff are the floor levels involved, their access, and the
availability of suitable parking.
In blocks
of flats, or other housing developments with complex access,
the provision of a plan of the area involved in the move,
a reserved parking space and advance knowledge of lifts and
stairs make a significant contribution to
the smooth running of the project.

BRITISH
ASSOCIATION of REMOVERS
The
British Association of Removers was formed in 1900 and represents
the leading removal companies in Great Britain and Northern
Ireland. It promotes the professional face of the industry
and will consider complaints from the public against its members.
QUICKSILVER
is an active member, attending regional meetings and supporting
developments and campaigns towards the highest degree of professionalism
in the industry.
|
 |
INSURANCE
QUICKSILVER
can offer you insurance cover for all removal and storage
activities. Any quotation from us will include an insurance
premium for removals and storage.
|
| |
NATIONAL
& INTERNATIONAL
QUICKSILVER
has vehicles on permanent national transport duties and would
welcome additional contract haulage to or from the North East
of England. We will deliver in Europe as required, and can
now offer a complete shipping service to anywhere in the world.
|
 |
PACKING
QUICKSILVER
can offer a full packing service by our trained staff, or
can provide cartons and a variety of wrapping materials for
you to pack your possessions yourself. Special cartons can
be supplied for hanging garments. Advice is freely given.
We
are able to offer an EXPORT STANDARD wrapping and packing
service which, whilst costing a little extra, provides the
protection required for international shipping.
|
| |
QUOTATION
QUICKSILVER
will always provide a free written quotation without obligation.
This will be provided by one of our estimators who will come
to assess the work to be quoted. By visiting the customer,
we are able to correctly quantify the work and provide an
accurate quotation, with appropriate allowances made for access
difficulties, special tools or equipment, etc.
Generally,
we do not provide quotations over the telephone. For customers
based away from our home area, we can provide a quotation
upon receipt of an accurate written inventory, together with
other information as required by the estimator. To email us
for a quotation, please CLICK HERE.

 |
SECURITY
Our
site is very secure, without general access. We have a modern
sophisticated alarm system. Details available upon request.
|
| |
SMALL
LOADS
Small
loads can be carried far more economically if they are combined
with others, when they become PART LOADS. This practice is
common for carriage beyond our home area. Customers share
the cost of the journey pro-rata to their requirement. However,
please note that the removal will only be made when the load
is complete.

SPECIAL
ITEMS
QUICKSILVER
has specially trained staff skilled in the moving of pianos,
where it may be necessary to dismantle beforehand. We have
special equipment for the moving of grand pianos, and vehicles
equipped with tail-lifts. Grandfather clocks and barometers
also need the expert handling that QUICKSILVER
provides. Amongst our regular commercial clients are auctioneers
of Antiques.
|
| |
STORAGE
QUICKSILVER
has brand new purpose-built storage facilities. Most household
items and office furniture are stored in secure wooden containers
typically (H2.3 x D2.1 x W1.55) metres. Our dedicated racking
accommodates rolls of carpet, bicycles or large flat items
and can be reconfigured for practically any eventuality. Where
appropriate, items can be loaded onto pallets, secured, and
kept there for the duration. A full inventory is provided
of items to be stored.
A
significant section of our storage is dedicated to our independent
DOCUMENT ARCHIVE facility.
QUICKSILVER
can offer a solution to your storage problem - at surprisingly
economical rates. All you need do is ask.

TRAINED
PERSONNEL
It
is QUICKSILVER's
policy to provide appropriate accredited training for all
our staff. Apart from driving and office/computing skills
training for relevant staff, our operatives are trained in
packing skills, accredited by the British Association of Removers.
At
QUICKSILVER,
we believe that investment in our staff development contributes
greatly to personal enablement and therefore the strength
of our team, the dividend being our ability to provide a first-class
service to the customer.

COUNTDOWN
to REMOVAL DAY
|
Up to 1 WEEK TO GO
Cancel local deliveries and settle accounts. Arrange
for utility disconnection at old property, and connection
at new property. Collect from dry-cleaners, etc. Return
borrowed items. Make arrangements for pets and young
children to be looked after on removal day and arrange
for any tradesmen needed. Plan/arrange the dismantling
of relevant furniture, fittings & fixtures. Advise change
of address/mail forwarding to Royal Mail.
3
DAYS TO GO
Pack
all valuables, legal documents, etc and arrange for
them to be kept in a safe place. It is inadvisable to
have them lying around on removal day when house security
may be compromised. Packing should be drawing to a close.
Mark the boxes indicating contents or designated room.
Begin defrosting freezer.
1
DAY TO GO
Defrost, empty the refrigerator. Lift the edges of fitted
carpets if they are to be taken. Has anything been forgotten
in the loft or garden? Are you leaving the TV antenna?
What about the satellite dishes? Leave forwarding details
for mail, etc.
ON
THE DAY
Collect all the keys and ensure they are left with the
agent or whoever. Check constantly that nothing has
been left behind. Turn of lights, taps, and gas and
lock the house. Ensure that our removal crew has adequate
directions to your new property with contact telephone
numbers. It might help if you could arrive at the new
property with keys, ahead of our removal crew. Check
that utilities are connected and switched on in new
home.
